Kidney Stone Prevention Clinic

Our Nurse Practitioner, Kathleen (Katie) Cage, FNP-BC, C-UNP will help you navigate through our stone prevention clinic.  She has over 9 years of experience in caring for kidney stone patients and is one of the few Certified Urology Nurse Practitioners in the Northern Virginia/DC area.

Potomac Urology is able to offer a stone prevention clinic service to patients who suffer from kidney stones.  We want to work with patients to identify risk factors for stone formation and help make recommendations for PREVENTION of stone formation.  We work toward understanding what is causing the stones to form and we use information collected from each patient to make recommendations for lifestyle changes, diet changes, and possible medications that would be tailored to each patient’s individual needs.

Katie Cage grew up in Georgia and joined Potomac Urology in April 2018.  She brings with her over 9+ years of urology experience and she is one of the few Certified Urology Nurse Practitioners in the Northern Virginia area.  Katie has both male and female general urology experience.  She has additional clinical experience and interest in female urology which includes interstitial cystitis, overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, and female sexual dysfunction.  Katie and Dr. Alok Desai work closely together to help take care of our female patients at Potomac Urology.  She also helps organize our kidney stone prevention clinic.
